OCR Text Processing Business Professional Suite of Qualifications
Provides candidates with high quality, professionally recognised qualifications that come under the QCF – Qualifications and Credit Framework – a relatively new way of recognising achievement.
Course built up of several units at 3 levels; each unit carries a certain number of credits and each unit is recognised with its own certificate.
Structure of the Course
First half year – learning to touch type.
By the end of the first year girls should be able to take some Level 1 exams.
During the second year girls work towards a unit exam, take the exam and then work on the next unit.
The beauty of the course is that girls can work at their own pace and take exams as soon as they are ready to do so, working their way step by step as far as they are able to go. Most girls will be able to take at least one Level 3 unit, and some girls will be able to take several.
At the end of the course anyone interested can have a taste of Legal and Medical units.
The school offers AQA Functional Skills English to those pupils unlikely to achieve a GCSE pass. A series of graded exams motivates the pupil to acquire a range of practical skills in writing, reading and speaking and listening. These can be applied to everyday situations such as creating an effective CV, understanding a job advertisement and communicating effectively at an interview.
Functional Skills – Maths
Maths is for everyone; AQA designs qualifications and support to enable students to engage with, explore, enjoy and succeed in maths. Maths is diverse, engaging and essential in equipping students with the right skills to reach their future destination, whatever that may be.
We understand that many students feel that maths is ‘not for them’ but we believe that maths is for everyone. Our maths provision is student focused and the range of courses that AQA offers caters for students of varying abilities.
