Beis Yaakov is participating in an international programme to eliminate gossip and verbal bullying from Jewish girls's schools around the world. Over 60,000 girls from 23 countries are taking part over the coming weeks, in the effort to better themselves and their world through mindfulness in speech.
Sponsored by the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation, this programme focuses on verbal behaviour at lunch time. Using a variety of posters around the school and mixed media presentations in the lunch hall, students are constantly reminded to consider the effect of their words on themselves and others.
Running at lunchtime for several weeks, it is hoped that this programme will help teach the girls to be mindful of their speech throughout the day and the rest of their lives.
